on September 11, 2000 held at the outside main entrance to Menara
AIA located in Jalan Ampang.
However, the contest period from June 1st, 1999 to July 31st, 2000 did not stand isolated but paralled an exercise by the company for its policyholders to partake in an upgrading exercise for accident coverage and investment-linked product: ExcelTrust and ExcelLink. As part of the contest entry requirement, contestants had to submit a slogan to describe their reason(s) to love Malaysian cars, to be judged based on originality, creativity, relevance and composition. The special upgrading program attracted the participation of 150,000 policyholders with 30,000 policyholders involved in the purchase of AIA investment-linked plans. A total of 5 national cars worth RM320,000 were given away as contest prizes. AIA General Manager, Mr. Mark O'Dell when speaking at the presentation ceremony expressed his satisfaction at the success of the project. "It's win-win for all parties. In introducing the upgrading exercise and contest, we wanted to upgrade our policyholder coverage and there has been improvement but we decided to also commemorate the arrival of the next millennium on a grand scale and celebrate the achievements of the country and that of AIA that has served Malaysians for over 52 years. What better way than to award Malaysian-made cars which are some of the country's greatest achievements to 5 lucky and talented AIA policyholders," he said to the crowd made up of contest winners, agency force members and company personnel at the ceremony held at the head office in Kuala Lumpur. The 2nd prize winner, Mr.
