Ng was speaking to reporters at a
press conference called by MCA Public Affairs and Complaints
Bureau chief Ooi Chuan Aik on Wednesday.
Ng said she wanted to thank the
company for its cooperation and Bank Negara for getting the
company to expedite her case.
Ng, said she had bought the medical
insurance policy from Medfiche Sdn Bhd in July 1998.
"When I was admitted for heart
surgery in May 2000, I was told to pay first as Medfiche would
reimburse me later," she said.
The bill came up to more than
RM26,000.
"However, Medfiche ceased
operations later, forcing me to approach the mother company for
reimbursement," she said.
"I am also grateful to the MCA
and the media for highlighting my problem which has led to the
prompt action by the company," she said.
Ng advised consumers to be
well-informed of what was covered under their medical insurance
scheme.
"They should be aware that not
everything is covered and there could be ceiling amounts imposed
by the company," she said.
