However, she was not reimbursed despite numerous reminders to the
company.
Teoh then sought help from the Penang MCA Public Services and
Complaints Bureau and her case was highlighted in the press on
Sept 4.
The response was almost immediate as she received the cheque
two days later on Sept 6.
Any Medfiche life assured, Ng Khoy Huah, 63, however, has not
been as lucky as her cheque for medical reimbursement is still not
in the mail.
Ng, who paid a total of RM3,900 in premiums for four years,
thought that she was covered for hospitalisation until she was
admitted for heart surgery in May 2000.
Like Teoh, Ng was also told to settle her bill first and she
subsequently took an overdraft to pay for the RM26,917.83 in
hospitalisation and surgical expenses.
"However, I have yet to get any reimbursement despite
numerous calls to the company," she said, adding that she was
still paying interest for the overdraft.
Bureau chief Ooi Chuan Aik urged the company to reimburse Ng as
soon as possible. |
